The Estate Planning Process

The Law Office of Jubilee Menzies is focused on providing clients with a well-crafted estate plan that protects loved ones, saves money and avoids costly litigation. We are licensed and serve clients throughout California, and our primary focus is on the San Francisco Bay Area.

In preparing for your appointment, our goal is to be efficient with your time, while ensuring that your questions are answered as clearly and as thoroughly as possible. We pride ourselves on being active listeners, and we will use our initial consultation, in conjunction with your questionnaire, to begin formulating the strategy best suited to your situation. Generally, we assist our clients using these steps.

  • Set up a Phone Call or Meeting: We set up a time to either meet or speak on the phone. In order to best value your time, we will try to make certain as much is accomplished prior to our conversation as possible.
  • Preparation: We ask that you read and complete our online questionnaire prior to our meeting. This will allow us to open a case file for your matter and begin the estate planning process.
  • Estate Planning Questionnaire: This is where we ask you to begin thinking through the different components of your estate. Some clients have everything in one place, others will need some time to remember everything they have, and more importantly, where it is. The more you give us, the more productive we can make our time together. We understand that it might ask questions you haven’t taken the time to consider before, but we promise you, these questions are critical to preparing your estate plan, and having all of this information in one place will come in useful in the future.
  • Our Initial Call or Meeting: During the call or meeting, we will talk about your unique situation and what type of plan fits your needs. In many cases, we arrive at a decision re how to move forward, and we will then provide you with a summary and an exact fee quote. If you decide to move forward, you let us know, and we start drafting. Easy! We then find a time to review and sign the documents.

COVID-19 NOTICE

Safety is our first priority with both clients and staff. Consequently, we have taken steps to enable a "Covid-Compliant" process for estate planning services during this difficult time. We can now complete the intake and drafting of your materials entirely by telephone or video conference. At present we are not receiving clients at any of our office locations. Thank you for understanding.
